About winLAME

winLAME is an easy to use encoder for many audio formats, including MP3, Opus, Ogg Vorbis and more. winLAME uses the LAME mp3 encoder.

winLAME lets you read in audio tracks from CDs or encode audio files from your hard drive. The intuitive wizard-style user interface makes it easy to set up encoding settings. Multicore CPUs are used to parallelize encoding tasks.

Today I released winLAME 2025 release 1, which corresponds to the build number 2.25.1.161. The release contains the following updates since the version "2024 release 1":

fixed adding CD eject task after each track (#12)
disable AAC object types other than "Low complexity", as faac produce incorrect files and has selecting object types disabled itself, as well (#14)

Today I released winLAME 2023 release 1, which corresponds to the build number 2.23.1.141. The release contains the following updates since the version "2021 release 1":

added support for entering disc number and replacing %disc% in CD track title (#8)
added CD extract setting to open the CD tray/eject the CD after reading (#9)

The following bug fixes are included:

fixed creating 8-bit FLAC files with preset "FLAC lossless from 16 bit audio" (#5)
fixed always setting the genre field of mp3 files to Blues (#6)
fixed wrong mp3 file duration time in VBR mp3 files due to wrong placement of LAME VBR Info tag (#7)
